Five Minute Friday – Risk
22 JunIt’s Friday…as I’m sure you already know. Weeks at this time of year are hard to abide when school is so close to being out and the days heat up like fire before noon. Friday can’t come fast enough. The kids want free time in the pool and the sunshine; no structure, no rules. They ache for the lazy days of summer. As do I.
Friday also brings with it a post opportunity. I don’t have to think of the topic. I just have to write and link up with Lisa -Jo Baker.
This week’s Five Minute Friday word from The Gypsy Mama (Lisa-Jo Baker) is Risk.
The deal is to write for five minutes, without using the Backspace key, without worrying about spelling or grammar, no do-overs, editing or over thinking. Then link back to The Gypsy Mama and invite others to join in. Oh, and you must visit the person who linked up before you and comment on their post! This is about community and connecting! Let’s jump in!

These things are scary. Continue reading

Write, Erase, Re-write
18 MarI have finally found a way to get over my incessant need to fix every single letter that I write on pieces of paper.
Since grade one, I have engaged in an obsessive compulsive behaviour that has brought my mother down to the school on more than one occasion for a meeting with my teacher(s).
This behaviour has followed me into adulthood. (Although I kind of have control of it myself now. There’s no one standing over me with a ruler, demanding that I not give into my natural instincts.)
What is this natural instinct that has caused a lifetime of annoyance to me and those trying to instruct me, you may ask? Continue reading
Brave
16 MarI’m linking up with The Gypsy Mama today, where we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.
“We finger paint with words. We try to remember what it was like to just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.” Continue reading
